Synopsis
︎︎︎
BASEL, April 2023 - An exhibition organized by Yuyan Huang is a multi-media show intertwining the museum Fondation Beyeler by connecting the interior with the outdoor pond.
︎︎︎ On view at Fondation Beyeler from April 15, 2023, to July 30, 2023, Here, Heal presents 10 works by 6 artists and includes stop-motion videos, installations, photographs, and sculptures dating from the 2010s to the present, with many artworks from the 2020s.
︎︎︎ The exhibition explores the three main elements in the field of Art Therapy: color, space, and nature. As a form of nonverbal communication of thoughts and feelings, art therapy is first introduced by American psychologist Margaret Naumburg as an approach to let individuals engage in artworks to vent their emotions and heal themselves. Visually, related artworks in the field widely combine color, space, and nature to express the sense of healing and life-enhancing.
︎︎︎ Here, Heal will provide the healing multi-spaces with art therapy-related pieces that utilize color, space, and nature, in which viewers can wander around through day and night.
︎︎︎ The show aims to let viewers gain a sense of inner healing by exploring the interior and outdoor spaces.

Fondation Beyeler

︎︎︎ This museum goes up on the outskirts of the city of Basel, and is a work promoted by the art dealer and collector Ernst Beyeler, who wanted to raise a building for his extensive collection, thereby making it accessible to the general public.

︎︎︎ Aligned between the walls of the museum are the exhibition halls, of different sizes but of the same height, grouped in two areas located on either side of the large access lobby. Along the whole west facade a narrow glazed porch forms a transition space, a place for rest furnished with sofas, preventing the entry of sunlight from the west yet permitting the view of the landscape from the halls.

Since the museum is located in the middle of an English landscape park, after finishing viewing the interior halls, viewers can freely move to the publicly accessible garden and path around. Just slow down, take a sit and get in touch with the surroundings there.
